About Me

Me

Hi!

As much as I hate filling in About Me pages, I guess I should say a little bit about myself. My name is Lori-Anne, but those familiar with my patterns also know me as Willow Ravenstorm.

I love keeping busy and my brain is always working on something. Usually multiple things at once, hence the tagline ‘Too Many Open Tabs’. I always have numerous projects on the go at the same time.

Currently, most of my patterns are on Ravelry and LoveCrafts. There are also a few that were stolen and shared illegally on a few websites I will not mention. Sadly, that tends to happen when putting your work out into the internet. It has been what has deterred me from creating my own website for many years. I finally decided to just do it. Wish me luck!

I was raised ‘old school’ by my grandmother and uncle. I have a big family but am an introvert and keep to myself. My 4 amazing sons; now grown men, are my everything. They have been the inspiration for most of my creations.

I am a web and app developer. My eyes are no longer working very well, so I haven’t done much of that type of work in a bit.

I have been cooking, knitting, and crocheting for over 40 years. I started cooking and baking around the age of 9; helping my grandmother around the kitchen since I was a toddler. She always had something yummy in the works. It was my favourite place to be.

My grandmother taught me basic knitting skills at about 8 or 9 years old, and my aunt taught me basic crochet skills at about 7 or 8 years old. I then continued to learn more about both skills on my own. I began creating my own patterns in my late teens to early twenties but never wrote anything down. Then around 2009, I started writing them out. I published my first pattern in 2013 and have a huge pile of patterns to type out and add here.

Knitting and Crochet

Crochet has been my primary focus. As a result, I don’t have a lot of knitting patterns written out. I plan to start designing more soon.

My specialty is amigurumi and crochet sculpting, but I also design several other types of patterns. My love for Amigurumi started in about 2010. I have learned a great deal while creating projects and testing patterns for other designers over the years. Some of those projects were massive, like Ragnarok by Amigurumi Artist (Gudrun Kulich). Others were smaller but complex. I have a few favourite designers that I hope to add to an affiliates page in time.

Note: One question I am often asked is if I will share patterns from other designers. The answer is no. The number of requests I have received for Ragnarok alone is insane. Designers work hard to create their patterns. Sharing their work without their permission is not only rude and unethical, but it is also copyright theft. However, I am fine with sharing a link so you may purchase the pattern for yourself.

My plan for this site is to post patterns in both crochet and knitting, and to share some of my favourite family recipes. But who knows what else will end up here? Because after all, my brain has too many open tabs. 😉
